I am an author and instructor specializing in writing for teens and educational technical writing. This may sound like an odd combination, but these specialties are actually quite similar! Each audience requires a specific touch.
As an instructor, I've taught creative and technical writing at the high school and college levels, and currently facilitate online university courses and offer personalized manuscript reviews. As an educational technical writer, I assist with the instructional needs for various educational and corporate industries.
As a teens' author, I focus on nonfiction and fiction. Why this age group? It's my favorite! Writing for teens lets me write about important issues. I am the author of several nonfiction books for teens and have written a young adult novel, which is currently in the submission process.
My nonfiction work includes several titles and a variety of freelance credits. My recent work focuses on historical and contemporary issues, biographies, literature, and careers.
My young adult novel manuscript, “Bruised,” placed first in the Smartwriters.com young adult category of the 2006 Write It Now! (W.I.N.) contest. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Teenagers from Vermont College and am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
I've worked with a number of publishers and businesses including Enslow Publishers, Ferguson (Facts on File), Rosen Publishing Group, Writers Online Workshops (Writer's Digest), and Frank Shaffer Publications.
